| 1. Examination Overview
The acceptance system for Specified Skilled Workers in the construction field started in April 2019, and Specified Skilled Worker Evaluation Examinations are currently conducted in three categories.
To obtain the status of residence of Specified Skilled Worker (i), it is necessary to pass the Specified Skilled Worker (i) Evaluation Examination and a Japanese language examination. In addition, to obtain the status of residence of Specified Skilled Worker (ii), it is necessary to pass the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Evaluation Examination and have practical work experience for the period specified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (0.5 to 3 years) as a team leader or site supervisor.

The Specified Skilled Worker (i) Evaluation Examination in the construction field is conducted through a written examination and a practical examination in accordance with the Implementation Guidelines for the Specified Skilled Worker Evaluation Examination in the Construction Field established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
The Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Evaluation Examination in the construction field is also conducted through a written examination and a practical examination in accordance with the Implementation Guidelines for the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Evaluation Examination in the Construction Field.
